Why KU?

Football's Gettin' Good!

A few years ago, I'd be the first person to tell you that our football atmosphere was...umm...not the best. But the athletic department and coach Mangino have really turned things around. The 2006 home win against Nebraska was one of the craziest and most fun college football games I've been to (and I've seen some good ones). We play lots of night games in September and October, and gameday on "the hill" is a great environment especially at night. We perform on the field at pregame and between quarters, and the rest of the time we're on the track which gives us plenty of room.

Traveling for football games is also a good time because we're in one of the best football conferences in the country -- the Big 12. We take road trips to cheer in some great atmospheres like Nebraska, Texas, and Oklahoma, plus this year we'll play MU on national TV in Kansas City at the Chief's Arrowhead Stadium.

We went to the 2004 Tangerine Bowl in Florida and the 2005 Ft. Worth bowl, and with the direction the team's going we should be going to lots of bowl games in the next few years!

But don't take my word for it...

We had a lot of confusion at the line. The crowd did cause some confusion on the line. You couldn't really hear anything."
-Darren Sproles, KSU running back, said after the KSU at KU football game on 10/9/2004

The stadium sits in a beautiful, natural bowl setting. From your seat in the stadium, you look up at the campus skyline on the hills in front of you - especially breathtaking when the tree leaves have turned to their autumn colors.
