What's the time commitment of dancing at KU?

On average, we have two 2-hour practices per week and one game per week. If you're on the Nationals (competition) squad, you'll have an additional weekly practice, plus you'll need to stay at KU in January (over break) for practices and the trip to Disneyworld for UDA nationals. You may also have to perform at games during holiday breaks.

What are the skill requirements to make the squad?

Do you give dance team scholarships?

Yes. Every squad member receives $350/semester. For information on applying for other scholarships (I recommend applying for as many as possible!) and financial aid, visit the KU Office of Admissions & Scholarships (opens in a new window).

How much does it cost to attend KU?

In-state tuition and fees is about $2700/semester, and out-of-state tuition is about $6800/semester. Although this may sound like a lot, KU has been listed as one of the best buys in higher education by Kiplinger's, the Fiske Guide to Colleges, Kaplan's, and the Princeton Review. Tuition at KU is 13 percent below the national average, according to the College Board.

Your best bet is to poke around the KU Office of Admissions & Scholarships site (opens in a new window), which has links to applying to KU, scholarship/financial aid info, and housing info.

I'm planning to visit KU. Can I meet the coach?

The coaches aren't usually around during the day, but Cat Jarzemkoski (KU's Spirit Squad Coordinator) would be happy to meet with you and answer any of your questions during your campus visit. To set up a time to meet, email Cat at catj@ku.edu.

How do I schedule the Rock Chalk Dancers for an event?

Complete the Spirit Squad Request (pdf) form at least four weeks before your event.
